There's something about glass in still life set ups that I just really like. It's always a challenge to paint what you see and not what you think it should look like.

Hi Rob...love this squared off glass jar. You should do a whole series! Happy painting!
ReplyDeleteI just had to laugh when I turned to your blog entry today! Remember how I named your similarly arranged workshop painting "engagement"? This title is great for this one--even better! It seems also like a take on Karen Jurick's custom of painting figures that are admiring framed artwork in galleries. It has a touch of Hopper's voyerism in it too? I like the "story" going on in this arrangement, and of course I know you saw that I also did a related painting today, a fruit in a glass cup! Great minds think alike! :) (although you did this arrangement first at the workshop!) It is painted excellently Rob! Great job
ReplyDeleteRob, I love the brush strokes on the jar!! So cool. In response to your comment on me selling my paintings on ebay, well, I have never tried. I don't know how anyone would find them.
ReplyDeleteI love the color combo in this painting. I'm definitely gonna use it.
ReplyDeleteLove this one, particularly the killer jar! thanks for the nice comment on my blog, I really appreciate the compliment, coming from the "Pear King". By the way, your banner knocks my socks off!
